Why does one become afraid of their own thoughts?
I know I've spent a good part of my life banging my head on the wall or pinching myself hard, trying to divert my trail of thought.
Is this normal?
Answer:
Ummmm, no. It isn't normal.
I had that problem for 5 years. It is part of Obsessive Compulsive disorder.
Don't let that scare you, it can be treated. You need to talk to your family doctor about where you should start.

i guess its normal cause i go through the same thing!
Hi,
It is all dependent on the thoughts that you are having.
If you are home sitting thinking about killing the old lady across the road or raping your next door neighbours daughter the yes, you should be frightened of these thoughts.
I might be exaggerating a bit but there are some people out there that do contemplate such things.
Whatever frightens you about your thoughts must be bad in some way to scare you and they are obviously being triggered by something subconsciously.
There is obviously something embedded in your memory that is triggering these thoughts and I suggest you seek medical advice to try and bring them to the surface.
I have always contested that the memories of our ancestors are passed onto us in our genes, why else would there be a need for so many similarities between child and parents DNA.
If I am correct then this might not even be your problem that is surfacing in your thoughts.
