Scapegoats?

You know now if someone does something wrong... (I'm thinking of the BBC/Queen debacle) how come we want someone to lose their job over it?

With the BBC thing, somebody edited it incorrectly, no-one is asking him to resign but they are saying the head of BBC1 should resign.

Who exactly was hurt over this situation, I doubt HRH gives a damn, I certainly don't, so why cause someone to lose their job just to make them a scapegoat for something that doesn't really matter?

Think back to the Boris Johnson/Liverpool thing, he said they were a load of victims, we said 'he must resign or be sacked!'. It happens all the time with politicians, they are only people when all is said and done, and people do indeed make mistakes sometimes.

Are we a nation of drama queens or indeed victims, what makes us want to wreck someones life over something so unimportant in the grand scheme of things?

I hope you can understand whats worrying me here lol finding it hard to express it properly.

Answer:
We live in a blame society. It happens all the time - really silly stuff at work and someone has to be blamed for it. WHY?
Why not just learn the lesson and put the problem right?
The Beeb apologised to queeny - the royal family probably have scorecards for how many apologies they can elicit from various companies! No need to sack anyone - no need to blame amyone - just make sure that somewhere down the line a note is made that in future this becomes part of a checklist.
(You know checklists - Showered - check, dried - check, deodorised - check, knickers on - check, dress on - check - damn - forgot I'm still wearing my slippers and curlers - must add that to the list not to forget in future!)
I'm with you, we should worry about things that really matter.
People should always be accountable for their actions. this was malicious and someone should go; but we should ensure the correct person goes!
Because they are angry and scared. They are fearing their own well being, i mean, if u insulted the powerless figure head of england(dont get me wrong, i like the british monarchy), who is the symbol of Britain, ud be scared. The fear becomes this intense anxiety, but since people dont exactly know how to let it out, they become angry at people they know are at least involved in some way in the incident or angry at people they dont like very much.
And the knowledgeableness and wisdom of politicians,i find, sucks nowadays. Back when napoleon did lots to europe, they didnt punish france, cuz they feared another napoleon. After ww1, they severly punished germany, like crippling it, cuz they were angry. I think they forgot about napoleon's near conquest of all of europe. We all know how we scapegoat sibblings. We all dont like them so much so they get the blame for our failures.
Scapegoating is a bad way to vent anxiety, but since pointing the finger at sum1 else is so much easier than accepting ones own shame and embarresment. They say we learn from our mistakes, but we have become too scared to recognize our own weakness cuz we have such a big ego, pride, or inflated picture of ourselves thanks to those who admire u. We lack integrity. If we learn to publicly achknowledge our shame and humaliation, we would advance human society rather than regressing back to times of savagry. "Lord of the Flies", a parody of human civilization, gives many clues to how humans work.
The people in these jobs especially media are responsible for the nations attitudes to a lot of current issue.

This is the medium by which most people get their information and perceptions from.

They have to be responsible and present an unbiased view so as people are well informed to make up their minds in an atmosphere of knowledge not hype and edited material taken out of context.
