Is this an anti-social problem?
Is this an anti-social problem? I really, really hate it. I wish I were the "social butterfly", but I'm not...
Answer:
yeah, I think it is social anxiety. You need to put yourself more in the situation in order to feel more comfortable and not run away from them. Maybe you feel that you will not have fun, or that if it turns out to be boring "its your fault" and you would rather avoid boredom than risk having a good time. If you want to help yourself out of this, do yourself a favor and force yourself to do the opposite of your natural tendency and persist in doing so even if it feels uncomfortable a few times.
Remember, you always miss 100% of what you do not aim for, so go out and aim to have a good time.
I don't think it is an anti social problem. I think you said it right when you referred to social anxiety.
It's social phobia or social anxiety. Many people have it. Don't worry about it, just be yourself. There is no need to be a social butterfly. Just explain to everybody honestly that you suffer from social phobia and that you don't mean to be unsocial (it's different from being anti-social). People will understand. There is no need to be ashamed of your condition. It's no different than having a heart problem or a diabetes.
