I'm obsessed with diet, food, and weight.?

My life is what I've eaten and what I'll eat next, how many calories and in this or that, and how much nutrition is in this or that. I've tried to just stop counting calories, but I find myself unable to stop. I don't restrict to any extreme, but my obsession with health is very odd. Sometimes I eat very unhealthy things despite knowing how bad I'll feel later, and sometimes I eat ketchup or mustard straigt from the jar. I'm constantly obsessed with food and diet, which often leads to me eating more. I'm not overweight, but my biggest fear is that someday I will be. I don't know what to do, and I want to have a normal life where I never think about food. I even think about it all day at work, constantly. Help me.

Answer:
..An obsession with food is not normal. It can lead to anorexia or bullmia, both of which can lead to death.

I had a very intelligent friend who fit your description. But she couldn't untangle her problem by herself. She went into counseling and stayed with it and now is normal. No obsession with food. And she looks great.

You should do the same thing.
9 out of 10 women feel the same way you do. It's what the magazines tell us we should do.

Gwen Stefani has a rockin body and even she said that she has been on a diet since she was six, because of the pressure to be someone she isn't.
I think talking to a doctor would seem like a good idea, it is possible that this obsession could lead to something more. Maybe you could put yourself on some kind of reward/punishment schedule. Every time you find yourself thinking about food you have to add another 5 minutes to an exercise program, or do something like clean the floor. Or for every day you don't think about food you could make time to do something you really wanted to do. It sounds like it could be difficult to overcome and professional help may be better way to handle the issue.
