I need your help?!, its about stroking or stimilus-hunger, read details please.?
"a movie actor may require hundreds of strokes each week from ananymous & undifferenciated admires to keep his spinal corde from shriveling, while a scientifict may keep physically & mentally healthy on one stroke a year from a respected master.."
but he added: "...any social intercourse (strokes) whatever has a biological advantage over no intercourse at all.." (he gave the example of S. Levine experiment about rats: whene electric shocks had same effect on rats as handeling them!! ..)
do u see the paradox here??
is it safe to follow the scientist's behavior or the movie actor's??
what is the secret of the scientist, how can he support the insulation??
Answer:
No paradox. Positive strokes have survival value based on the quality of the stroke. Shallow people only require shallow strokes. Deep analytical thinkers require higher quality strokes.
There is also the fact that a "thinking person" is satisfied with thinking. He is more fact-oriented than socially-oriented. He is not insulated or isolated psychologically.
A shallow superficial person needs people for constant superficial validation. The rational person still has psychological needs, but not to the same extent as a less developed or socially oriented person. He qualifies his acceptance of "strokes" through analysis and comparison.
Shallow folks need lots of strokes,
but smart folks just need good ones.
