Failing that, I would tell you that it is quite possible to be very happy without any relationship, and it's possible you have been looking too hard.
Just have a relationship with yourself for a while. Sit home, read a book, go to bed earlier. Cook yourself a good meal. Call an old friend. Help someone whose problems are worse than yours.

Well here are some ideas anyway. Join a club you'd be interested in so you can met others with like interests. Church can be a good place to met people too. Special interest classes are good too.
Ideas:
Church - small Bible study group, church singles group, etc.
Gem and Mineral clubs - (Rocks and Earth Science)
Aquatic club - for aquarium fish owners
Fish and Game type clubs
Art league clubs in your area (for artists)
Special interest class: Acrylic or oil painting, drawing, Motor Cycle course, photograph, you name it there is a lot to choose from.
Get interested in something will make you more interested to be around and in turn you will met more interesting people.

well, first date I would take you to coffee and see if you had a good personality or not. If I thought so, I would do something a little better for the second date, like a nice walk in the park followed by a dinner at a restaurant and maybe a romantic drive afterwards. I am open, so say hi if you ever see me around ;). I would say hang out at coffee shops or bookstores if you are looking for someone. Good Luck!
