by asking yourself questions and answering them honestly. just get to know yourself by asking things like do i prefer living in ____ or ____ . idk thats' what i do..
yoga or meditation.

Some will say yoga or meditation. I say you can pray to God in absolute silence. this way you are meditating and self analyzing yourself and God is there like your therapist because he hears your every thought and word.

For me, I had to go back and study all I could about the religion and faith I was "given" simply by being born into my family. As a youth I had gone through the normal Sunday School teaching etc. During adulthood I became addicted to some very serious opiates. To be more specific morphine. Of course things caught up with me after I had lost everything and hit very bottom (after several tries at hospitalization and recovery). During the 12step process I began to want more. I read my bible, I read other teachings, I read some physics and some anthropology and found they do not conflict. Along the way I found God and as a result I found my inner self. The two reside very closely when you are at peace. So I say study(everything), and go out into nature while you study. And ask yourself could all of this really just have happened by coincidence. Keep studying and developing your Faith. Then one day.poof you have found not only your inner self but you realize your inner self is standing next to the spirit of God.
