Are we really as individual and unique as we would like to believe?
So what makes you so different and special then, eh?
Fancy tattoos? Your wacky, far out sense of humour?
I'll bet there's loads of people out there just like you, they probably even have your haircut.
Answer:
My sense of humor and my introvert personality make me unusual.
It is funny how people try to show their "individuality" by doing the exact same thing as everyone else that is trying to show their "individuality". People who obsess with being unique individuals take actions so similar to others that they become LESS of an individual and more part of a movement or subculture. Smart isnt it.
Many psychologists suggest that there are a finite number of personality types. There are a number of personality profiles that define who you are. My favorite of these is the Myers-Briggs because it is the oldest and most widely used.
During the past semester all soon-to-be teachers in my class were given the test. It was amazing to see how we were sorted out.
I believe that we are all unique based on experiences, and upbringing. But we share many similar personality traits.
Your probably right. But I don't really care that much about being unique, nor do I care about being like everyone else. So maybe that make me unique.. but if not.. I could care less
No we are not unique. You're absolutely right there's loads of people just like you. It always makes me laugh when then people ask :What makes you special? Nothing. HAha!
Reminds me of that scene from 'Life of Brian' where he calls out to the vast crowd outside his bedroom window, 'You are all individual!'
And the crowd calls back in unison, 'Yes, we are all individual!'
We are as unique to one another as finger prints on each hand. All healthy hands are of five fingers and so on... but there will always be some very fine details that each of us is unique in. So basically one can argue for both parties. We are unique and we aren't that unique after all.
I do think we are all unique individuals. Yes, we have certain characteristics or personality traits that make us similar to others, however, no one else has lived my life, experienced my grief, pain, happiness, success or failure exactly as I have. These are the things that make us unique. Also, our opinions, values and beliefs. No matter how similar our hair or facial features may be, our spirits and our minds are each unique to us.
what makes you special is unseen. it takes years with someone you trust to let known who you are. you are growing even at adult hood. it takes most of your life to know who you really are
How do you feel about ants? To me they all look the same, how do those aliens from other planets see us?
we are not unique there is nothing that makes me in anyway different from any other person right now, not even the fence staple chain around my neck.
Ive heard the layout of one persons blood vessels differs from anothers so perhaps by the tracing of veins i am unique. Your thumbprint also is said to be your own.
I know what you mean, we all have doubles, but we do put our own mark on by our hair, clothes, personality traits etc.
well they must all be very rich cause i only frequent the top hairdressing salons i shall sue of course dont want a common persons haircut. i thought the poor use bowls on their heads to cut a shape
Of course we are all unique!
No one could possibly have my exceedingly honed sense of humour!
No one looks exactly like me, the world just couldn't cope with 2 drop dead gorgeous to die for women!
If anyone pays what I pay to have their hair cut, then they are almost as vain as me but they are not me.
Goodness knows what makes each one of us special but trust me we all are.
An interesting question.
i believe we are
every second of an indivuals life is different...what we touch, see , hear, sense, smell, etc...every second since birth...
how we react to this and how that manifests in our developing personalities.
sure genes are involved too.
also how we perceive things.what we learn etc and what we are taught and how we are brought up...
theres a fie line tho with thinking we are better or worse than others because of this
in this respect we are not unique
NO!! there are no truely unique people in this world. there are people who think differently from the immediate group of people around them but somewhere there is another group of people that think like them as well. there are too many people in this world and too few thoughts, ideas, and looks for someone to be truely unique because people think alike. so if you get an idea to be original and do it, not only will someone copy you but somewhere else in the world had the same idea you did.
my theory is that all the geniuses in history weren't actually the only people to think of the ideas that they are famous for, they just told someone about it first, or the other people thought the idea wouldn't work... but that's just a theory.
i would love to say that everyone is unique and we're all special in our own way but i haven't lied on here yet and i'm not gonna start now :)
The key discriminator in my opinion, is our personality which is formed by a combination of genes and environment.
There are similar but none with your exact combination. There have been experiments done with breeding animals and clones. Despite the controlled and set environment to be exactly the same, differing personalities materialize no matter. Its just the way the brain customises everything for itself. Perhaps you should consider this is the concept of the soul!
I think the sense of individuality (that every1 has) gives you drive to do something different so that people will see you as someone away from the "norm" I don't really know any1 thats happy being just mediocre!
no one person is better than the next they just want to be
