(psychology) Why does this happen?
I am very creative and do lot of sketching, writing, notes, poetry, tracking creative visualization after trance sessions, and stuff like that. It is going okay. Thing is, I can't seem to stick to one physical journal or keep my papers in order. I am always buying new notebooks, losing them. That part is very frustrating. Do I just need to get organized? Is this a kind of resistance? I get restless and fidgety and then want to start with "clean paper." My life is peppered with dozens of unfinished journals. What do you think? Namaste.
Answer:
I'm not a shrink( I'm an artist/writer) but if it were meI'd find a new way to express myself.Sometimes we simply hit roadbocks because we've bored our brains silly with the monotony of expressing ourselves in the same way too often. Why fight the urge to not write or finish something? Try a new approach by taking a break from what you normally do.Some different ideas for self expression could be talking into a small hand held tape recorder.Use it as a moment to moment daily journal for your observations.Few things could be easier than walking around & talking outloud. For the visual side of you, collage is a fun place to start.People for some reason, never seem to take this idea very seriously but it's a powerful tool for learning more about yourself and self expression. Get ahold of some old or new magazines, cut out photos that you are attracted to and words or phrases that express or inspire you.Glue these images into one of your journals as a way to express your current mood,or a hope or dream that you'd like to accomplish.Doing a different activity will allow you to access areas of your mind in a new way. This will help to break the pattern of starting, stopping and losing interest in maintaining a traditional journal or sketchbook. It's worked for me over the years and it can work for you too. Good luck.
why not buy a filing cabinet to keep all your books in?
I think you wan't to be a perfectionanist and you loose your important books very often because you are very concentrated in ne area of your life. You need to be organized but you also need to put different priorities in their place instead of giving too much attention to one skill.
we have a same problem!! so.. i will star u question so that i will get to know the answer..
what i do is.. once a week, i will have my room cleared.. i will browse thru all the paper or books that i found.. if there is any writings or my works in the book or paper, i will immediately put them inside my clear folder.. or file.. then, whenever i have free time, i will open the file and look at them again.. when i have a mood or idea to continue.. i will take them out and continue writing..
well, its not easy to start writing again when we have left it.. so, what i do is i just left them unfinished.. its my masterpiece.. lol
You mean that you can't seem to stick with one notebook because it feels unorganized or something? I think that you should get a LARGE notebook, keep it clean and organized. With a notbook with dividers, it may be better to use that... Keep it stored away neatly in a drawer... Take some of yor other notebooks and papers, and rewrite them in your new notebook. Keep it nice and clean. That is then key.
