Can there be threats to the internal validity of descriptive research?
I am doing a project for a research class. I am creating a blueprint for a quantitative study using the descriptive design. I am required to identify and account for any threats to internal validity but I am not sure if there can be any because I will simply be describing "what is," which is the definition of descriptive research according to my sources. Can anyone help?
Answer:
If the concepts that you are using in your descriptions are not well defined, it might create a threat to internal validity. For example, if you are giving labels to things, people, or events, your labels might be subjective and some of them might be invalid. Determine whcih terms you will be using in your desriptions and make sure that they are universally accepted, or that you provide clear definitions to the way you use them.
