My thoughts...?
however recently, for my personal enlightenment, i chose the most addictive product avalible (i was told it was nicotine). i smoked for 6 months about 2 packs a week. it was all i could manage they are gross. after the 6 months i stoped. i didn't crave them at all.
my question is: for any addiction with any
substance, is it a psycological thing, routine thing, or is it truely text a book definition addiction
i have nothing against smokers. to each their own
does any one agree with my thoughts?
Answer:
Some addictions are physical and some are psycological. Like me, for instance, I have gotten into the habit of brushing my teeth before I go to bed. If I don't brush my teeth, I can't get to sleep. That is a psychological addiction.
Some drugs are -physically- addictive. Heroin or opium, for instance. Addicts need this drug just to stay healthy. Cold turkey can actually be fatal!
I don't know why you didn't get addicted to tobacco, because it is one of the most addictive drugs. Maybe you just weren't doing it right. I smoked a pipe for years and years, then one day just decided it wasn't worth the trouble, and I quit and it never bothered me. But I didn't inhale much.
Well nicotine is an addictive drug. Even if you don't want it you crave it. But in your case you don't want it and don't crave it that is very unusual. Are you sure you tried nicotine. You did smoked 2 packs a week. That is isn't alot. I don't think you tried nicotine.
why would you risk health problems just to figure this out?
I agree with you. It is a very mental issue. I also believe that after repeated use over a period of time the body does become dependent on the substance. Once you believe that you need a substance, your body will believe it too.
