Is it human to forgive and to forget?

Some things are a lot more difficult to forgive than others. People have done some awful things to other people in this world. Actually it is human not to forget. And I'm not always sure what people mean by forgiveness. I am sure that those who easily tell others to forgive and forget often do not have a real understanding of what forgiveness is. It is not an easy process, and it does not work the same in all circumstances.
Doesn't the saying go, "To err is human to forgive is divine"? I believe only God can forgive and forget.

As human beings, we have a larger proportion of empathy than any other animal who rather live in a world where "dog eats dog". In my opinion, we also feel guilt,which makes us unable to forget.
No it does not make you anything but HUMAN, but if you want to move on, you have to let it go. Move on with your life and things will be getter in that area. Many times we are not willing to let go and it keeps us stuck. In order to truly forgive we must let it go. Only God can give you that willingness. We are human and we make mistakes

I don't believe it is human at all--at least, not average human, mental disorders aside. Forgiveness is extremely difficult in the first place. Forgetting is nearly impossible, and probably unwise. (You forgive the murderer, and then forget...imagine the consequences!)
