Do you think being placed alphabetically afftects a person's self esteeem?
and i noticed that the people's who's last name is at the beginning of the alphabet always acted like they were superior in a way. they always got everything first, first in line, first one to recieve their high school diploma...etc.
It's obviously a good organizational thing but I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this..?
THINK ABOUT IT
Answer:
It is TRUE! My last name starts with V as well...I was always near the last of the gorup if not the last. I remember standing there ALONE at times...waiting...just waiting for them to finally call me! it was the worst! I felt like a reject at times. There were some teachers that would call out in reverse order though...to spice things up. Gosh I loved those days! They would put such a smile on my face!
ooooo yea expexially wen your name is zef zynik
you are right in a way but that definatly doesnt count every single person. cause plenty of my friends who's last name starts with A do not act superior.
My last name start with an A and I agree with you. Sometimes when I go somewhere and have to wait in line I get ticked off because I am use to getting picked first. Most people would called this spoiled, however I disagree we are conditioned to a certain extent.
I never thought about that, but I really do too! The anticipation of your name being called is weird! I wonder what it's like for people who have names starting with A?
I have. My last name starts with M so its in the middle to be honest I never wanted to be the first one I always felt comfortable being the one in the middle and I guessed it did affect my personality because now I never like being the first one to be called or the first one to do anything. It's weird, maybe if i would have been the first one in the alphabet I wouldn't be scared to be the "leader" maybe it does affect you in some way.
I don't think so, most teachers will use both the beginning and end of the alphabet to do things like line up and present and stuff. very rarely do they start in the middle of the alphabet.
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN! Your questions really made me truly think of this observation for the first time. But you're right. My name is M, the very middle of the alphabet and that's kind of how I always felt...kind of not the best but certainly not the worst. I am sure other factors have a bigger weight on this but I do believe that the placement of it in the alphabet cycle (especially if it happens on routine basis) is somewhat psychologically significant.
good question
I was always at the end of the alphabet ( a "W"), but man the dude who's last name was a Z turned out to be an alcoholic!
ha, ho, but his sister turned out fine. then he got sober and became a world renowned professor. so what the heck
I think the advantage of being at the end include:
a) learning patience
b) seeing what the goofballs infront of you make mistakes that you can slyly avoid through the observation of what works & what doesn't
c) nobody cares about alphabetizing names once you are out of school, it is just a dumb adminsitrative/factory thing, then talent and hard work start to kick in
d) time to bond with other kids at the end of the alphabet
good luck, xyz's of the world rule!
in my line of work (i am a recruiter and place people on jobs). we run an "available list" of employees. because the A's always come first, it makes it unfair for the Z's. So because of that, I go backwards every other day :)
i think anyone can turn things into "discrimation" but let's not.
i've never noticed people acting superior because their name started with a letter closer to the beginning of the alphabet.
:)
ok my last name starts with a Y and was always last and i mean the last one i think in my whole school too but i think it kind of made me popularbut there r bad times too cause when i am waiting to take my year book piture i am last in the class but i deal with it. cause like when i was graduating elemntary school the teacher was like "and last but not name" and i got the most applause and stuff so being last it is an atvantage for me.
