Would you prefer to be blind or deaf?

i was just interested because so many people say so many different things

Answer:
neither blind, nor deaf....
haha...!!!!
I am blind and my life is really OK. It's what I know. I am a very social person and I think it would be so hard to have difficulty communication.
If I had to, I would rather be deaf. When you are deaf, you can just READ what the person would say to you. Of course, if you were blind, you could just hear it. But I can survive without hearing stuff all the time, and I absolutely CAN'T survive without my sight. Of course, if I never had sight and didn't know about seeing, the circumstances would be different...
Blind people have a much better lobby in Washington than deaf people. For instance, they get more disability money and can earn more money than deaf people who are getting SSDI or SSI. I'd rather be blind than deaf. Deaf people are much more isolated than blind people and find it harder to communicate. There are many programs for blind people, and the assistance for deaf people just doesn't come up to their needs.
Blind because being deaf is more work. You have to learn sign-language and have to read peoples lips. Certain people won't know your are deaf, unless you tell them. Being bling would be more obvious.
Blind...so much in life can be interpreted an enjoyed by sound..I had a deaf mother and she was always lost ,,,she missed her grand children's voices, the sound of a bird and could not be given direction.while having both would have been better for her she missed out on the world around..it is a life of total solitude...a form of internal prison.
I am one of them who can't live without talking & music.. So I would not prefer to be a deaf. In case of Blind - I think my Eyes are my best features. Apart from this without my eyes I would not be any more able to observe the scenic beauties of this beatiful Earth. I would not able to see my Sweet Home, My Parents , My Sister & the most beautiful person of my life - the Love of my Life, my SweeHeart. So I can't even dream of that state...
It would be very difficult be subjected to either of these sensory deficits. However, I would probably, find it more difficult to adjust to deafness than blindness because without sight, one can, at least, commit his immediate living environment to memory, touch and smell and use a service animal for help. However, I feel it would be much more dangerous to be forced to experience everything in the environment in which you live by sight because if one hears a verbal warning, a gunshot or a glass break in the distance, he can sense how close it is and move away to safety before he is in the line of fire. Further, one could no longer enjoy the telephone, the sound of music and the voices of loved ones with deafness. In all honesty, I would not wish either of these on anyone.
Deaf. I think it would be easier to read signs, subtitles, and lips than it would be to rely on a dog to keep me from getting run over in the street.
I would have to go with deaf. I would never wanna lose the ability to see the expression on a loved ones face, or a flower growing, or the sunrise early in the morning in the morning when you can still smell the dew on the grass. Being deaf at least you could learn to communicate on other levels, like braille for reading, or sign language to talk to loved ones. They even have interpreters so you can listen to your favorite song!
blind
id rather be deaf. I cant see without contacts to save my life and it is so frustrating to the point I can cry so Id rather see where Im going and not hear.
