I seem to have a short attention span, how can I keep myself busy longer without getting bored so easily?

I can't seem to pay attention to just one thing, my mind is always wondering all over the place. How do I keep myself from getting bored with everything so easily? I'd like to be able to do something without always getting anxious or bored. How can I contain myself to just one activity when my mind wants to do something else almost as soon as I've started something?

Answer:
I would tell you but I got too bored reading the question and moved on to something else.

Just joking. Sounds like you have a short attention span...is this something that has recently developed or something you have had a problem with for years? If you really concentrate and cannot focus on one thing then you should really talk to a doctor. There may be things that can be done to make your life a lot easier. Good Luck.
Make A Scrapbook: At the beginning of the summer, buy each child a blank notebook, some pens/pencils/crayons, glue, and construction paper. Have them write stories of what they did, draw pictures of their favorite activities, and keep track of their summer.

Treasure Hunt: Hide some type of “treasure” somewhere and write hints on papers to lead to the next clue. Use several clues in different places so they need to read the clue and try to figure out where the next clue might be.

Treasure Map: If you have more than one child, they can each hide a treasure somewhere in the yard and draw a map showing where to go, starting from the door and ending at the treasure. They exchange maps with someone else after they have finished and try to find the treasures.

Make A Bird Feeder: Use a two liter plastic soda bottle. Cut a large hole in the center of the bottle, so that there is a large opening that the birds can use to enter the bottle. Attach a string around the neck of the. Make two small holes below the opening and push a branch through the holes for the birds to perch on. Place bird seed on the floor of the bottle and hang from a tree branch.

Colored Walks: Give each child a color, a piece of paper and a pencil and have them take a walk. Have them write down as many things as they see that are the color they were given.

Bird Watching: Buy a book on birds and use a blank notebook to keep track of how many different birds you see during the summer. You can use either of the bird feeders in the list to begin attracting birds to your yard.

Art With Bubbles: Add a few drops of tempera paint to a container of bubbles. Use several different containers and make them each a different color. Place white paper on the ground and blow the bubbles so they pop on the paper. Let them dry and see the unique artwork.

Make A Nature Mobile: Use parts of your nature collection to create a decoration for your room. Start with sticks about one foot long and tie together so they form an X. Tie pieces of string to the sticks and hang different objects from the string. You can make a pine cone mobile or you can make it a collection of different things. If you are using leaves, let them dry in a book for a few days and then spray with shellac or clear spray paint first.
Aderol... It's an ADD medication, i'm not trying to be funny... seriouslt you might have obtained Adult ADD, it can happen!
I have ADD and even though I take medication, there are things I have to do to get through some activities.
Use a timer. Give yourself a certain amount of time, say 5 minutes for cleaning your room. Make yourself stay focused for that 5 minutes. Once the timer goes off switch to another activity for 5 minutes. Alternate between the two until the job gets done. There's just something about some jobs that can seem so boring and overwhelming and it helps to break them up into small segments.

If you are talking about reading or studying, I suggest drink some tea or a mountain dew (has lots of caffiene) to help you stay focused.

Use your Mp3 player to drown out other distractions by listening to your favorite music while tackling mundane chores.

Visit your doctor about some meds. they really can make all the difference in the world. It may be ADD or it could just be stress.
