Why do people enjoy movies that involve torture?
Answer:
Most people don't realize it but they have a deep rooted blood-lust. That is not to say that the general population is out to kill someone, rather we all are inherently wicked to a point. At some point or other a person has considered violent behavior but never acted upon it. The fact is God and morals keeps this society at some sort of normal constraint. Even if people don't believe in God or the bible their ways of life are shaped by His ordinaces. I feel we all have a need to see death out of curiousity. Tortures is but a mere extention to that act. One thing is the body can only handle so much torture before it shuts down and a person doesn't even feel anything. Movies mostly are overly exagerated in the "violence" the body can mantain while under torture. Hope this makes some sense. Takecare.

there's something interesting in the fact that alphashadow's answer has two thumbs down already. people having a hard time acknowledging some uncomfortable truths? though I wouldn't have worded it the way he did, I think he has at least part of the answer.
but to get to the real question and answer; I don't know. when I think of evil I feel bad. Under no circumstances would I ever seek out images of torture and death, thinking of it as entertainment. Yet it seems that some people do view it as entertainment. And from the number of these movies and such on the stands at the video store and retail places it seems that there are quite a few people who can watch, and even seek out, the most horrible stuff. It worries me.
But I am always glad to learn that there are others who do not want this garbage. Thanks.
