What would be your reaction??
Situation:
Your relatives adopted you since you’ve been an orphan and you were able to graduate in college because of them. But when you find a job, you start to separate your self or being independent and say goodbye to those people who took care of you.
Answer:
Ungrateful. Not to say "Good bye". Say "Thank you so much. Henceforth I will take care of you all"
And how is this any different from a biological child? Just make them and yourself proud.
Its normal for anyone to stray away from their family. Everyone does it. I know that when I graduate from college and start my own family I will be distant, but you always know that they helped you and you will always be greatful for this. Every child leave their families for their own life, that's just how it goes. Its not selfish or horrible its human nature. So its okay.
This happens to most people even when they were not adopted. If you are worried about the relationship you should try and strenghten it by being in closer contact. But ususally people tend to separete from their parents.
Depends on the type of relationship you have with your relatives - if it is a good relationship, meaning that there has been little or no friction, then perhaps you have to rethink what is important to you in life. Maybe family is not as important to you, a value that is difficult to prioritize because of subconscious abandoment issues. But if family is important to you, hold onto that value; unconditional love and family unity may be critical as time passes. If there is ever a time when you are alone or become sick, you may find that you need the people who have loved you in your formative years and beyond. While independence is important, you need to let your family know that you are appreciative of their support and explain that there may be periods of time where you need to separate yourself. You at least owe them the respect if not the love for guiding you and loving you through the years. Perhaps one day when you have started a family of your own...if you haven't already...you will realize the importance of keeping in touch. The world can be a lonely and unforgiving place.
