well i've heard that the reason that people are left handed or right handed is because they suck that thumb first in the womb. for example, if you suck your right thumb first you will be right handed. i don't think that has anything to do with how smart you will be! so no i don't think it is true at all
Left handed people tend to use the right part of their brain more often, i believe. The right side of the brain controls the left side of the body and vice versa. The right side is more responsible for spatial intelligience and creativity. Overall, though, I don't think this is actually entirely true.
