Did any event in your childhood have a profound effect on you as an adult?

If so, what and was it a positive or negative effect?

Answer:
well, there is this one event in particular that changed my perspective on life inside and outside. it happened when i was 15, and it was more of a bad choice (really stupid if you ask me). Thanks my poor actions, I ended up wasting 2 years of me in the most miserable and terrible way possible. My family basically was shattered upon what i had done. They literally had to sacrifice everything, from money to clothing just to get me out that dilemma (more like bear though it without killing myself). It was terrible and horrible because the pain i had inflicted to my loved one was extremely difficult for me to cope. I lost respect in the eyes of many, and redeeming it was nearly impossible.
After this experience (which i pray i will never have to face again), it motivated me to work hard for my goals and make the lives of people who had given up so much for me lives easier.
The sad part is that one my sons is about to head the path that i once did. Unfortunately, there is very little i can do to redirect him to better path because it isn't in my hands anymore.
yes and I think everyone will say yes! To listen and take time with small children, to give of myself, I don't mean money or gifts I mean grandma on the trampoline.that an ear is better then a belt
When I was only 9 years old my dad told me that my mom slept with someone else when he was gone over seas because of the army and got pregnant with me.

I am only 16 but I still think it has a profound effect on me. I tried to grow smarter and I do tremendously good in school after it happen so I would not do that when I got older. The negitives is that I am antisocial, cynical, sarcastic, and somewhat mental insane.

I can hear stories about serious topics or a serious problem and I start busting out laughing.. I just do not to not care what people think anymore.

My sister became depressive and suicidal after the divorce of my parents when she found out about all the cheating in the marraige and she passes her free time now by looking at pictures of dead bodies that have been mutilated and starts laughing out loud.
