What is assertiveness practice? and how can i practice it?

i was told that it will help my timidness and shyness.

Answer:
..It means practicing verbal strategies used in being assertive. For example, there is the "broken record technique." You need for some to role-play asking for something you don't want to give. For example, "I need you to lend me $100." Instead of caving in, you hold your ground by saying no every time he repeats the request.
"I'm not lending you any money."
"Please? I really need it."
"I don't have it to give."
"I know you have the money!"
"I have it, but not to lend."
"But you're a friend! Please?"
"I know you need the money, but I'm not going to be the one to give it to you."
"Why not?"
"I'm not lending money. Not to you. Not to anyone."

And on and on. You hold your ground no matter what...in a nice way, but without getting emotional or making excuses or explanations or compromises. You see, you have a right to not lend money. You simply assert that right. After a while, the person simply gives up, because you haven't given in.

There are other techniques. But this is a really good one.
