How do I change my GREEDY views?

So i'm going to college right, and I have doubts in what I want to do. I've majored in zoology, but I'm having second thoughts. I sometimes think in becoming a doctor of some sort, but the ONLY reason why I'd do that is for the money. All I think about is the money. I know it's very greedy of me, and I feel horrible for feeling that way! I know I want to work with animals, but honestly I wouldn't be making so much. I feel like I need to make a lot of money in order to be "successful" in this world. I could do so much with money. I could help my family in so many ways. I try to see if I'd like becoming a doctor, but I just can't. How do I change my views? Or simpley, how do I change myself? How can I see that money and fortune are NOT everything in this world? I feel like I'm driven by money! Please help me...please.

Answer:
I feel that money is one of your lessons this time around. Seeing as how it is such a strong issue for you. You know it's wrong to center yourself on money, yet you crave it anyway.

Could be your upbringing. Maybe your family had less money than others you saw as much more privileged than you were. They had things you didn't and wanted. Did your family want money too and maybe give this belief that you needed to have lots of money to be happy in the world? These are just speculations, but may have something to do with it.

You want to work with animals, you might consider becoming a vet. There is nothing wrong with wanting money to live, just don't let the love of money ruin your happiness in the long run.

I have read a book recently that may help, take it with a grain of salt though, as you could drive yourself crazy trying to do all 4 at one time...best to just keep them in mind and do your best. The 4 agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.

I enjoyed it, and think maybe some points in it may help you. best wishes.
Accept Jesus as your personal savior and start thinking about people and feelings and how you could improve their lot by your actions.
try meditation.
Honestly, money is the driving force in this society. You don't have to be a millionare, but you need to have a job that will be able to sustain you.
If you are a big spender and only want the finer things in life, then you better be looking to make a lot of money...you may be miserable working and you may not get to enjoy your money, but you will have what you want.
On the other hand, if you like to have the necessitites, such as food, home and clothes (and not just name brand clothing), then you can major in whatever you like and make sure you find a job that will pay in the average range. You need to know that you will not afford a half a million dollar home and you will not be able to drive a cadillac. Maybe in the future when you get married you will have a second income that will help buy other things, but you can't expect to live in luxury.
Not everyone who graduates from college will live an extravagent life, but they will live happily and at least you won't be dependent on government funding to help you survive.
you can first try to understand "greed"
it comes from a feeling of entitlement a feeling that you should have more or better than those around you. You also feel because of that you will get preferential treatment in all your endeavors. Once you have a reference for your greed then you can think about how whatever job you do, you will likely be doing it for a very long time. In effect the name "career" Money is important as one must meet their basic physical needs but so is happiness of the heart, mind and soul a basic need. Feed the whole person and you will be fulfilled
You know, I've known happy people and unhappy people. Some of each had money and some of each didn't. It just doesn't look like wealth is a deciding factor. In fact I'm so certain of it that I am willing to consider it an established fact.
What does seem to give the best shot at happiness is the strength of ones relationship with those around one. Spend part of your time and energy simply being helpful to friends, family, neighbors. Talk to your neighbors. Oddly enough, this is difficult and it will take time to make progress, but it's worth it.
Being beneficial to animals can't hurt, so becoming a vet might be a good idea. I do have the feeling, though, that it might not be totally fulfilling if you limit your attention to animals. I think you must include people.
