Do you ever feel that life has no meaning, and you will never amount to anything?
Answer:
I think we all feel that way sometimes, the important thing is to try and keep yourself positive, even when the horizon seems very dark. Other than my family, the only thing that keeps me from the edge is HOPE. Sometimes it wavers, but it is always there.
Ditto.
I used to until my lifes work was stolen and raised millions of pounds.
I think everyone has felt like that before including me. But you should focus on the postives instead.
sometimes it gets a little tiring
Adam are you ok? well i feel like that somedays but not everyday...whats going on? whats keepin' you so down?
at the moment yes. but i think thats cos i have no challenges in my life at present and am just waiting.
I spend my days lazying around wanting to sleep, and sing songs by the jam.
Yes of course. If you think about it long enough, the futility and stupidity of it all is hard to avoid! In terms of amounting to anything - thats relative and entirely personal. Some people strive to make money and see themselves as successful when they have pots of money. Other people strive for spiritual enlightenment...most of us just hope we get through another dull day at work and the pesky kids grow up okay! The answer to all of this is not to analyse...its a bit like being given a bar of chocolate and then thinking about why you were given it, how you should eat it, should you indeed eat it...its meant to be enjoyed for however long you have it and in whatever way you want it.
yea i know what you mean.xxx
I used to feel like that until I was about 30, then it got better.
Hope you feel better and more positive soon.
Hug
Self-believe and self-confidence is a huge thing to learn but once you've got it life is definitely more rosy!! It took me about 15 years of my life to learn it but I think ive got it down to an art now!! You just need some self-confidence really and no, I dont think self-affirming talks every morning in the mirror are useful!! I used to feel the same way so I can appreciate where your coming from and I know it's easy for me to say this but if you do try I promise you it will really work!!
so sorry Adam, I wish I could help you, try not to make anything get you down, if you want to talk to someone about your problem, I am a good listener and will give you whatever advise I have, if u would like you can join christianvibes.com and you just connect to me, my name is Destiny
I used to think exactly that, until my daughter was born. I know it sounds corny but when I held her I knew why I was on this Earth, nothing to do with God or religion but only to look after the best thing to happen to me.
Someone once said to me " You will see a different kind of love when you have children"
I did, and more I saw why we are here life has a meaning.
I'm also very lucky my son followed, wish I could explain more, but their love means all.
Many a times, many a times
Life is a gift that we get to unwrap everyday; open it with wonder, with hope and with the certainty that you will find that which you seek.
Free yourself from expectations imposed by either yourself and others; focus not on what is missing but on what is present in your life. Think about what can go right instead of what can go wrong; think possibilities, not limitations, and understand that in this journey there are mornings as well as midnights. When it is dark around you remember that the sun will rise again without a doubt.
You are the center of your world. Shine and there will be life in it
we all do at times, but it does. you have family and friends. your life has meaning to them. think about how you would feel if you lost a loved-one. i tried the suicide thing one time. friends that i didn't think about came to my side. remember this, your life is short, but your death is forever. that shows that life has meaning.
Welcome to the club, it is common to feel that way specially when you are looking for meaning and can't find it...it is normal to ask one "what am I doing here?" why were I created?" what am I supposed to do with my life?" I think that you should get in touch with your inner person, the secret person in your heart, are you a Christian? then pray, ask God to give you meaning to your life. If you are not a Christian you can practice ancient practices like Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation and get in touch with the Universe itself. I think you will find meaning and more.we are not here by chance, we were created with a purpose...Good Luck.
Everyone feels that way.
Just go out and find something you like to do. Or, find meaning by helping people or animals. You are not going to find meaning just sitting there.
You make your own meaning in life.
Everyone feels like that from time to time. Best to get on with your life and let success come to you, which it inevitably will, don't worry.
to find meaninglessness in a vast open space is easy.
to find something of meaning and to fail at stealing it away is not.
I felt that way ten years ago.it seems I was right after all.
This is because we are constantly plastered with media images of succesful "stars" on a daily basis.
We see Paris Hilton or Victoria Beckham with their obscene amounts of money living glamourous lives for doing nothing.
This in turns makes us feel that our lives lack importance and that we are leading an inferior lifestyle to this and that if we do not have this type of lifestyle we are a "nobody".
Some people even use the phrase "nobody" if you are someone who is not famous or wealthy which is a disgusting phrase to use.
Every person has their own little corner in the world. Your job is to make that corner shine and to live each moment with great enthusiasm and to make everyone in your corner feel good about themselves.
You are focusing on things that need to be done, or you have to get there before you will be happy or important.
This is an insane way to live. The key is to live completely in the present moment and to not believe that your own significance is related to possesions or things as these are impermanent and have absolutely nothing to do with who you are.
When a person is a skeleton rotting in their coffin what importance does a lot of money or a bentley have or a record contract? The answer is that these things have no importance.
Life will always unfold in the playing field of the present moment and when you realise this you will eventually be able to withdraw from the current past / future orientated despair that you are residing in.
I think the secret is to realise that not one single person on the planet is truly happy. that you are completely normal how you feel!
You are just honest that somedays you feel a bit pissed at the universe :-) Me too but you're alive, you walk in beauty everyday!
I wont even read the other answers. I know i will never amount to anything. I am a total looser. I work 5 nights a week in a bar. I'm a single parent. My 11yr old daughter has to come with me, she falls asleep on the sofa above the boozer, in the pub, i wake her at 1am to walk home. bet you think i feel good, got to pay the rent.
Whats for sure is that you will eventually ammount to becomming a dead rotten corpse one day.
Same as everyone on this plannet has to deal with.
Life probally doesn't have any meaning, but think about it like this, when your dead, it wont really be playing on your mind will it.
Remember what it was like before you were born?
Well if its like that after death, i find that a conforting feeling!
Can't speak for everyone there.
Live life for now and save the worrying for after your gone, when you cant worry.
