Is it possible that mental illness patients have less addictions than normal lets say?
Answer:
i think they have more due to the need to self medicate.
Depending on the illness (like Bipolar), addiction rates are higher then in the general population.
They have more addictions, due to self-medicating. I used to really booze it until I found out prozac was making me really manic (bipolar disorder, undiagnosed). I stopped it, and the drinking stopped within a month. A lot of people haven't been diagnosed, and the booze does kind of help in the meantime. Not as good as the prescription drugs, tho, and you can't function when you are drunk/high!
