Is it just me ?

Over the last few weeks I've phoned and visited many so called help centres and enquiry offices only to be left none the wiser. Anyone else with similar experiences?

Answer:
I think staff in call centres work to a script and often can't deviate from it .. sometimes the computer won't let them. If your question fits the program (and most do, I suspect) you might get a sensible answer otherwise you've had it.
The machine controls the staff and nobody really takes responsibility.

What sort of things were you asking...?
What are you after?
I've worked in a call centre and I find it annoying when I can't answer a question just because it's my job not to answer that particular question! It's usually because we're barred from giving that information and it makes my blood boil because customer services advisers are meant to be helpful!

I WANT to help!!
I think the most irritating one was when I called an insuurance compny I have an investment with. I was re-directed to the sub-continent and the call was taken by a delightful Asian lady. I wanted to reduce the amount we agred I should draw that year. Could I get what I wanted through to her, could I heck. In the end rather than lose my temper with the poor girl I concluded the conversation. I have formed maybe an unfair conclusion that the call centerees particularly on the sub-continent have a "set conversation" if anything diverts from it they can not cope.
