Can animals have dreams about themselves as humans?
There will never be a way to know what an animal dreams as we cannot understand their language, but I'm wondering if it is possible.
Answer:
No one can answer you this question, because the only way to answer this question would be if someone could record animal dreams and view them and no one so far have been able to do that, so no one knows.
They can probably dream about being human in animal terms. Just like when we write movies about ants, for instance, we cast them in human terms with human voices and human interactions. If a dog dreams about being human, it's dreaming about being a human only in dog terms.
no, their brains aren't developed for that sort of thought. otherwise all those sci-fi movies about them taking over the world would be true.
..Our dream imagery is triggered by the emotions that were active when we went to sleep. These feelings associate with images already stored in memory. The associations aren't structured by the continuous input of the real world, so while we recognize the world of our dreams, they aren't exactly like the real world.
Mammals have brains structured similar to those of humans. We know they dream in REM sleep, so the reasonable assumption is that their dreams are based on animal imagery stored in their brains. Since they have no idea what humans are or what human experience is like, they are highly unlikely to dream themselves as humans.
Non-mammals don't have a cerebral cortex, so they may not dream at all.
Of course it does. My dog dreamed he was me, and went on a big drunken spree. He told me all about it.
