Meaning of this dream?
I enter a bar with an unknown aquaintance whom I
immediately lose track of, (inconsequential). It is a
place from my past maybe. it's a jazz nightspot very
small, older clientelle, I sit in the front row and a
singer starts singing old standards at some point I am
lying back on a bed now listening to the singer very
casually, most everyone else had wandered off to the
bar, mingling.
All the while I am noticing some people in a very
small room just off the stage wearing indian or
tibetan garb and holding up religious scrolls of some
kind with foreign writing on them. I realize they are
foreign missionaries performing some religious rite or
practice and after a while one woman comes out of the
room and kneels beside me not really looking at me but
engaging me to hear a recitation she is reading from a
scroll. It doesn't make much sense and I just listen
politely. All the while she holds a large ceramic
bottle by her side which she taps lightly every so
often to produce a ringing sound. I assume it i a bell
used as part of the ceremony. She finishes and goes
back to the others. a little while later another women
comes out, kneels beside me in the same way striking
the bell every so often. I am not really paying
attention to what she is saying but just relaxing and
llistening politely. at one point she say's the word
"gun" and then says somthing like "the word gun is a
symbol of..." and then she pulls out an old cast iron
gun and calmly raises it to her head at which point I
realize she intends to shoot herself. I grab her arm
and say "no don't do that" her arm lowers with little
resistance but when I let go of her arm the gun raises
back to her head and I realize there is nothing I can
do to stop her. so I get up and say "I can't watch
this" and I walk away and out the door to the bar and
as I clear the door I hear the gun go off. I cross the
street to go to my car and there is a man crossing the
street the other direction and he has a gun which he
fires in my direction so I start to run to my car and
as I approach it I fear there are others with guns
nearby and I am only a little worried about being shot
and then I woke up.

I think that the women in your dream have to do with particular thing like important relationships or situations that you were supposed to deal with (conflicts). You listen to one sing, and then the other that chants but when one put the gun to her head to shoot herself you tried to stop her and then left. Maybe you were supposed to reason with the woman. The gun represented some sort of confrontation, maybe you avoid confrontation and because of that you avoid people ( thus the strangers w/guns and feeling like everyone has a gun..being worried about being shot) Women represent love, nurturing and that sort of thing or mothers even. Maybe unresolved issues with mom or another important woman? Or unresolved issues with dealing with love or relationships or nurturing?? EDIT AGAIN: Maybe there was someone or IS still someone that needs your help or advice even and you haven't said what needs to be said or done something? May not be as important as death but a bad habbit someone needs help with, your opinion that you haven't given entirely about something..you know??
Or someone is trying to change something in a relationship that you don't want to change you want it to stay the same..
EDIT:: maybe her religion has very specific requirements and her doing something was hard for you to take( like she was killing herself or something) and to her it was just what her religion expects from her?? My email is open...I didn't know about the email controls..
EDIT:::Maybe the chimes represented like a warning and the jars were old so maybe an old warning?? Like something you have always known or she has always known and now its getting late? Or time is running out? like there is a deadline or something?

Nothing happens without a cause and not even dream...your dream must be associated with something that you see and experience in the past. Recall back whatever you have seen (movies, dramas, etc) or your own experience watching this kind of event happened. Another cause of dream is imagination of the mind, if you like to imagine about something going to happen they way your mind think it is. Sometimes a story in a dream can be collective, which means it is a combination of whatever thing that is in your memory express at once.
Hmmm. maybe they're not so foreign. My first impression was that maybe you need to pay a little more attention to your religion, hard times could be coming. Now I'm thinking that you did something in your past that conflicts with your religion or something.
This dream could be relavent to a girl whom you met in a social environment, who got closer to you, (the singer singing to everyone and then just you). The religious reference could be linked to how different you were and not being able to completely understand each other. The gun could be a reference to her leaving/you ending the elationship, and the person trying to shoot you is possibly guilt from ending the relationship or guilt from not understanding what she was doing through.
Opposingly, it could be about a close female relation whom you were very close to who is not not with us. Not understanding the scroll could be a link to her not being able to tell you shomething she would like to. And again the gun could be her passing, and the shooting, your guilt for not being with her when she died or the guilt of simply not knowing what she had to tell you.
Maybe far fetched but hopefully gave you some ideas?
I'm not sure that anyone could interpret your dream as well as you could. Dreams are fragments of you. It would be like handing me a grain of sand, and asking me to identify the beach from which it came.
However, I have a small piece of advice. Assume for a moment that everyone in your dream is actually a part of you. Then, examine how those people, and their actions, are relevant in your life.
