Why can't I sleep?

I don't know but the past few days I noticed I haven't been able to sleep much. A day ago, I went to sleep at 10 P.M. and managed to get up at 5 A.M. with the feeling that I had slept too much, but being really tired as well. I was bored for 5 hours, and finally tried to go back to sleep again at 10 A.M. and found myself waking up at 6 P.M.

Last night, I went to bed at 3 A.M. and woke up at 6 A.M. and tried for an hour to stay asleep, but it failed. I still have that same feeling of having slept enough but while being really tired. And now I'm typing this.

I don't know if it's possible, but could it be that maybe I just am afraid of sleep. Sleeping has become a problem with me. I don't want to go into my bed at night because I can't take leaving the computer where my friends are online and be alone, because when I make that transition so quickly from friends to nobody, I usually get depressed until I can reunite myself with them.

Can anyone help me out here?

Answer:
Its a very common problem.

Reason #1 : The thing is, your mind is stressed. Researches has proven that, those who watch TV alot, and use computer or say mobiles(so much), has sleeping disorder. The reason is the rays of all these mechanical things, effect your mind's cells totaly, and make them sensitive, and you nervous system is little bit disturbed, and as, we know, when we usually sleep, is when our nervous system is relaxed, totally..its understood..

2#: Now you are saying you dont want to sleep, because you want to use your computer.then it tells alot, you are not prepared to sleep mentaly..its the psychological factor. You have stopped your self from sleeping many time, that now your mind is used to this!! And you are not able to overcome it. and maybe you are tensed about something ,and it wont let you sleep? It happens , when we have some overlapped thoughts in our mind, we cant sleep until we are done with it!

3# : Alot of coffee also effects that.

I want to say a thing, people who have a normal sleeping routine, are less depressed than those who cant sleep normaly. Sleeping disorder causes so much mental stress, even, if we are not having problem we think we are, because mind is disturbed.

A personal experience...I tried to cease to sleep for one whole day, when i wasnt able to sleep normaly! I did not sleep at night, i didnot sleep at day , even when i was dying for sleeping ..i did not sleep! And on next day at night, i slept on right time, i got up on right time early in morning!:-D And less coffee please..set a time for your computer use aswell....your mind will be used to all this routine. Drink cold water before going to bed, take a shower, just tell your self, you have to sleep this time at all cost! :-p

sorry if its a long answer and still no help:-(
First, don't worry. You are not alone. I have your problem too. I am scared of sleep and can't sleep all the time. Try to relax and think of good things. Do some yoga if you know. Listen to soothing music. Chill out. Better yet, do something boring. Sit here and play with your nails and you'll get bored. When you do, great! Go to sleep. If it still doesn't work, think of being hypnotized.
It sounds like you need routine and are deppressed! Why dont you go see your doctor about some sleep medication. You could take it at the same time each night to try to get back in some routine. Loneliness is a ***** but not sleeping in a routine can magnify your anxieties and you will end up feeling ten times worse. I get agitated deppression and my sleep pattern goes all over the place and I worry about stupid things, medication helps me get through my nights. being awake when the world is asleep does feel lonely.
i force myself to get off the computer because for a split second i think about how i'm doing myself a favor. That my friends can wait because you talk to them almost everyday and it's not going to change just because you get off for a while.Your body got used to sleeping late and getting up early, so make a routine like eating dinner a certain time and then taking a shower brushing teeth etc. do that for about a week to get your body to know that it's time to sleep. or you can take some drowsy stuff like tea, (i hate tea but i drink it anyway) or if your sick or have allergies find some drowsy medicine. oh and think of your bed as a nice soft place to just relax.
Well when you started talking, I thought about it.and then you actually SAID it. Depression, ya might want to have a chat with your doctor. Depression and sleep disorders go hand in hand. The people on the internet are fun to hang with, but they are not real friends. You need to realize this for yourself though, and not spend so much of your energy here. I know it is impossible to set a time limit online....but make sure you are doing other things with yourself, get another hobby too. Sitting online for all of your waking hours is not going to make you feel any better, it will just make you feel like a vegetable and more crappy. Personally I think sleep sucks, but the deal is that we need it. Sometimes I read in bed, read myself to sleep (and nothing else works for me) but force myself to stay in bed even though my brain is going 100 miles a minute.

During the day, to avoid boredom (and just sitting there staring at walls like I used to do for hours on end) plan your day the day before, with things that you would like to do, and lots of nice things for yourself, and try your best to make yourself do the things you told yourself you were going to.

I think you are definately depressed to some degree, and make yourself aware of it and try to make things different. (You are the only one who can change this.and I know that can simply be a hard thing...but trying won't kill you, I promise.) If you are not doing too great at this on your own.definately make an appointment to have a chat with your doctor. And one more thing, believe it or not you ARE normal, and just like other people, don't be intimidated because they ARE only people and there's not a good reason to think they are better than you. *HUGZ* Hope I made you feel a little better.
i same with you.can't sleep every night.maybe your mind think about something.try to don't think anything before you sleep
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress,
dietary and medical problems. By making
small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly,
insomnia can be cured. I found the information
