Is eating a learned behavior or is it instinct?
Answer:
It is both. Normally, people eat instinctively. But then there are babies who have failure to thrive. They often have feeding problems and need to be taught how to eat. Otherwise they just get tube fed, which is fairly nutrient dense, but not perfect. So while typically instinctual, it is also learned.
I think it is a natural instinct to all living beings.
well i would say both. even a newborn baby can drink milk without being shown how, and he/she will cry when hungry. but how we eat (like w/ a spoon, fork etc) is a learned behavior.
Both, once your shown how to do it, nature takes over.
Instinct. But the types of foods we eat, I believe are learned behaviors. (sweets, ect)
Eating is an instinct. Over eating and eating crappy food is a learned behavior.
i think eating itself is instinct... what to eat and how to eat is learned behavior
instinct, a baby's natural reflex when you touch or blow on their lips is to begin to suckle, what other reason would they know to do this except for feeding.
Instinct. Touch a newborn's cheek and they will turn their head toward the touch. They are seeking the breast. They also nurse instinctively. Many critters hatch out of eggs without any help from their mamas and survive just fine.
It's an instinct.
Humans know basically what they need from birth, though today we don't rely much on instincs anymore.
Eating is instictive, babies and new borns will naturally suckle to gain milk
