How will you inspire to someone who get depressed?

Answer:
If it's severe depression they need help from a doctor. But if they are just feeling down, I think the best thing to do is to remind them of their good qualities, give sincere compliments, offer your friendship. People are cheered up by the littlest things - I sometimes leave little presents for my neighbors on their porch or buy my co-workers a little gift. Or tell that person who is always so nice how nice they are. People want to feel appreciated.
just offer to keep them company, make sure you listen to them as well...
be a friend

Largely depends of the form of depression.

If they are just a "little down", distraction and/or just listening to them talk about their problem - without judging or belittling.

Clinical depression will need support working with any professional help that person may be getting.

If they do not have medical help then I'd suggest encouraging them to seek professional help.

Beyond Blue is the main Australian site for depression.

You can't if it's clinical depression. They need treatment. Attempting to cheer up someone who is clinically depressed is frustrating for them since they want to be happy as much as you want them to. They need medication at the very least.

If the depression is situational, just be there for them, help them in any way you can to change the situation that's causing the problem and if it can't be changed(like a death), then just allow them time to grieve.
Whatever you do don't say "get over it"! You can only be there for them and persevere with the mood. Treat it like any other illness and dont be disheartened if they don't cheer up straight away. When the mood lifts they will remember that someone cares and they may not be so easily depressed next time around.
You make up a funny joke for them.
Well, if that person was cliniclly depressed...there's nothing much I can do. I'm not a doctor (just a middle school child)...so I couldn't give them the medication they would need. However, if that person was just feeling down or blue.I would tell them to live life to the fullest. No matter if life isn't going well, there's always hope. I would tell them never to give up hope, because it's what keeps us going. I would tell them to find self-happiness. On a bright perspective, (if this makes any sense whatsoever)...if no one felt the pain and sorrow of life, (no one lives a perfect life) we could never feel what true happiness is.
I would be there to listen to their concerns and offer books that wil motivate and heal them; as well as give them more info about depression.
