Why does it feel so nice to reminisce on the past?

When i think of childhood memories, or visit places i haven't been to for a long time, it makes me feel an emotion i cannot explain.

A mxture of happiness and sadness, what is it and why do we have it?

Answer:
Its a safe place and the sadness is because u ain't there no more
The mixture you feel is called "bittersweet".
The memories are the closest thing you have left to being there, so there's a part of you that acknowledges that you
can never have that moment in time ever again, and this nostalgia you feel becomes bittersweet. Both happy and
sad. But, it is still a wonderful feeling to be able to feel.
I hope I have helped you. peace.
