Anyways, what makes homosexuality so bad in your opinion?

I am not gay, i do not hate/fear homosexuals at all, however i have put thought into the matter and decided that hatred of homosexuals in western culture, ignoring Islamic culture for the time being, stems primarily from the bible.
Whereas Orthodox Jews do not hate homosexuals per se, the bible clearly condemns the practice of male on male homosexuality. such an act carries a death penalty, like numerous other prohibitions in the bible. this idea has been transmitted into non-jewish culture through christianity, which lacked the contextual information regarding administrating a death penalty according to Jewish law, found in the Talmud and the later legal authorities...
Thus all that the vast majority of christians had to base their understanding of homosexuality on was the fact that God called it an abomination, and commanded a death penalty for it. although the bible also calls eating pork an abomination, christian biblical scholarship has generally been of an inferior quality, lacking any systematic or logical attempts to make cohesive sense of "old testament" laws; instead devoting its energies at attempts to prove that Jesus was the Jewish messiah. it is possible to explain this oversight according to christianity if it were true that Paul, or one of the apostles had written about this practice, expressly condemning it, whereas eating pork had been specifically permitted by them.
Therefore, in the minds of the great majority of the uninformed, homosexuality was elevated to one of the most repugnant taboo's. Religious fervor does not explain the stigma attached to homosexuality in western culture alone however, due to the fact that, generally speaking, mankind as a whole is not particularly fanatical about religion. No one likes being told what to do and the majority (large or small) of people relegate religion to secondary importance, taking a backseat to financial concerns, or the latest gossip (which is also forbidden by the bible) etc.
my conclusion is that because the bible spoke out against the practice of homosexuality, homosexuals have been looked upon as different, and often in the context of "sinners". Being different in any culture has always meant being persecuted in some way or another, Jews in medieval europe and the near-east, catholic Irish in the mid-1800's in america, the blacks in america arguably up untill present times, etc.
thus being singled out, originating in a particular religion, has caused the fear and hatred of homosexuals that exists within our present culture. Cultural pariahs are often the target of the small-minded, and the cold-hearted in any society. In truth however, there is no basis in Jewish or Christian theology or Jurisprudence to mistreat any human being, this being merely being a manifestation of some of the lower elements in society, and within the psyche of man in general.
That being said, the three western religions, Judaism and its daughter faiths Islam and christianity, all have religious injunctions against homosexuality. The persecution of homosexuals in Nazi Germany is not something i know enogh about to discuss as the Nazi ideology was completely secular and based in evolutionary thought, but perhaps my theory of homosexuals being an easy target for hatred will suffice here in lieu of a more thorough examination.

i honestly don't care what consenting adults choose to do. I wish I were a hot lesbian so I could seduce and marry a rich lesbian gynecologist...
I shudder at the though of two people of the same sex having sex, it's unnatural. I also don't like it becuase of my religious beliefs.
They want extra rights, they lid and say 10% of the population is gay, when science says it's less than 2%. Lie and say it's natural, when science says it's not. Lie and say it can't be cured, whenscience has cured it.
I hate that sin of the flesh and hate that lifestyle, I don't hate the person/s.

Those people who practice that lifestyle are lost individuals, they have a sickness of sin .
Because people hate and fear what they don't understand. It is easier to hate those different from you and blame it on religion than it is to listen, learn, and try to understand. Jesus tells us to love one another as we love ourselves. If we were to follow the bible verbatim the world would be a much different place.
They don't want different rights, they want the same rights that any two dedicated people in love would receive. You can tout the sanctity of marriage but we live in a society where divorces are more common than successful marriages and we line up to see shows like the bachelor and who wants to marry a millionaire.
They aren't trying to make you gay, as if it was that easy.
I don't hate gays so maybe this question wasn't directed at me. I'm not an atheist, I am a practicing catholic. However as a teacher I choose to live my life by the golden rule "Treat others as you would like to be treated"
Honestly speaking, it's disgusting for two dudes to do what they do, but girl/girl action isn't bad in my book. What women do to each other isn't anything a man couldn't do to a woman. But what two gay guys do to each other is on a whole 'nother level. Double standard, I know, but that's how I feel. With that said, it's their lives and their decision to live it as they see fit.

my stats are not scientific but here goes :how many gay men really want to raise a child? how bout gay women. gay men are sad for families who want to keep their blood line going.gays ultimately destroy families(or the potentials) and secondly it's just a shiity thing to do man to man. bottom line their behavior and thinking tend to be self destructive

the ignorant or overly religious hate homosexuality. hatred of homosexuality is used as politcal vehicle. and remember, in america, the people who immigrated over here, came for the right to be extra up tight puritans. lol
