Is it true when 1 decides to commit suicide by jumping off a building, do they die before impact?

No, you don't die just from falling through the air. How do you think all those people who skydive live to tell about it. You die when you go crunch.
falling isnt what kills you... its the sudden impact with the ground that kills you.
Well, I am sure this is difficult to answer since a person would most likely die and not live to tell about the near death experience. My opinion though.
Your body (mind) would respond in a way to protect itself from the upcoming impact and pass out from fear. If this is your way of saying you are contemplating this, or know someone who is..PLEASE seek help now!

you wouldnt feel the impact your brain would respond to the known outcome and shut down before, when you have a high impact knock to your body or head your brain will go into a coma like state, and if you dont die you wouldnt remember and pain that was caused by smashing all your bones in your body on the pavement.

My aunt jumped off a 14 storey building and was killed instantly. Her legs moved up her body and she was a mess.
I am not sure death occurs during the fall though. If that were the case, then all high jumpers or swimmers would die, right? Does not make sense.
I think the impact is what results in death.
Actually I'v heard that it depnds on the size of the building. if you jump off the Empire State building chances are that shock will kill you first. But honestly, who really knows. It's not like you can ask someone who's done it.
