What can severe loneliness do to someone mentally?

Answer:
Loneliness can lead to feelings of despondency or severe depression. It can cause pain, resentment and hopelessness. It may cause anger over little things and blow small things out of proportion in a person's mind. A small bump in the road may seem insurmountable. It can lead to social anxiety and a distorted view of the world. It is something that gets far less attention than it should.
