Do you think its true that "theres nothing to fear but fear itself"?
Answer:
Yes, because unless it is a physical fear, like walking out in front of a car, fear seems to be ALL in you head and emotions! When you face it and work out whatever is around it, I find that there is not as much there. So the only thing left to fear...IS fear. It holds you back as an illusion! :-) E
Yes.
yes because life is a challenge and if you don't face the challenge then you are nothing and won't go anywhere.
Yes, i agree.
If i have a fear of something, it holds me back in so many ways. I become scared.
Propaganda given at a time America needed it.
I think it was Epicurus who had a good idea about that. If we fear death, we must still be alive, so there's no reason to fear it. Once you're dead, you'll be unable to fear it. As to pain, it's either acute, and will not last long or chronic, and probably bearable.
What is there to fear, then?
In the sense that sometimes fear paralyzes you to action, then yes fear is to be feared. There is no sense living in fear of the millions of things that could go wrong at any time.
Yes.
I definitely agree with this statement. People who have self-discipline have no need for fear, just as people who have moral integrity have no need for religion.
If you do your work because you fear getting fired, you have no self discipline, and the fear serves a purpose for you. If, on the other hand, you do your work for the satisfaction of a job done as well as you can possibly do it, then you have nothing to fear except the possibility of an irrational sense of fear, or, in other words 'fear itself.'
There are many real things to fear...but fear itself, stress, anxiety, PTSS etc are actually silent killers. Once during a home invasion robbery, I was so freaked instead of acting afraid I forgot about fear and acted aggressively as there was no other options. I ended up saving myself and 6 others. Fear is useless mostly...react like a trained cop or soldier regardless...it helps!
No.
There are many other valid things to be afraid of . . . vampires, aliens and global warming just to name a few !!
Yes, but i guess everyone has their own type of fear. But I am learning to trust in God and he's helping me. The world, news, people and even life makes us have doubt about a lot of things. There is not trust, therefore we have fear. Just hold to that which is very dear and just think about it...your fear will go. I guess that why when a person truly is in love they can give their life for their love one without fear of death. Fear is false evidence appearing real...
No..there are plenty of real things to be afraid of. Fear is a state of mind.
all fear is hallucinated.
