Well assuming because you are asking this question you are a zombie, then I'd have to say you have very little chance of attaining a life or of developing the cognitive abilities needed to understand HOW life works.
If someone you eat enough brainz and do become self-cognitive enough to understand what's going on around you I suggest that you read up on Kant, Socrates and other philosophers to understand how life works.
You live then you die.
"Life " in it self does nothing but give a sense of existence but it helps other organs in the body to do the designated "work" . The work could be breathing , digestion, excretion, growth, mental abilities etc.As long as these functions function the life continues , the moment these functions cease to function the "life" is transformed in to a new reality called "death".
