Disassociation?

Has anyone ever experienced Disassociation (ex: when you feel as though you are on a movie set, watching actors)? Suddenly you feel as though you are not participating in life but are a spectator. I have expereinced this from time to time and it can be unnerving.

Answer:
I have dissociative disorder so yeah I experience it all the time. To me its like being free, well most of the time, Not when I'm trying to do something important and then poof I'm gone.

Oh by the way no I don't have MPD
Yes , to a degree it is common however if it is excessive you should seek help.
i feel that alot! it's really uncomftorable, because it makes me feel as if i'm not really normal or something.but then i just shak it off as best i can and have fun with my friends
Most people who experience this do so becuase they learn to compartmentalize things or actions they see from others. I'd wager it only happens when more than three people are present? You watch and your mind is making sense of what you're seeing. It's common among people who are very cautious of getting hurt, people with control issues, people who have had a torturous past, and people who have a lot of need to "make sense" of their world.
I experience this alot, hence ---the nickname. A surrreal and "spacey" feeling. Rebas analasis hit the nail on the head.
