What makes some things scary for some people?

the unknown! some ppl are afraid of the dark. that's because they don't know what's there ''hiding'', so, their nervous system gives the signal to their body to be alert, makes the heart beat faster etc... i find snakes scary, cause i've had a close encounter with them as a child, so i'm worried about the next time.
There are usually things in one's childhood that trigger fears. But w/out sounding all 'professional' kids see things on tv or at homethat they're really not supposed to.they stay up late and eat junk -which has tons of sugar so their minds are a racing- it's kinda stored in to their heads and stays w/ them subconsciously. Monsters under the bed are normal but most other things can't be explained and some of these fears are acrried into adulthood if not dealt w/. {hope this didn't confuse you more}
I guess it's because God made everyone different. As with foods we don't all like the same thing so I guess we're all afraid of different things. I'm terrified of mice, but not of bugs, spiders and all those things.
The environment you live in,Things which happen in youth
If you live in a environment with very superstitiously people,which are afraid for example of the number "13",you will be afraid too
Or,if when you are very young you are attacked for example by a
dog,you will always be afraid of dogs
when I was 8 i did hold my fingers in the space between the "part of the door opposite to the door handle" and the "wall"
somebody had closed the door and i feeled a terrible pain
Now i'm very afraid of putting my fingers there,even if i know that the door won't be closed 100%,i just can't hold my fingers there 15 seconds..i'm too afraid
There are also people afraid by spiders or narrow spaces
the spider fear can be also because spiders are very ugly,have 8 legs,etc
but the fear of narrow spaces(Narrow claustrophobia) is something genetic,you are born with it
i saw on discovery channel a woman which was attacked by birds when she was about 6 and now if she sees just 1 bird at 30 m away she is very very scared
