What are the 3 main branches of psychology?

Is it social psychology, clinical psychology and developmental psychology?

Answer:
There are many more than three branches, and in each general area, there are many specialties and even subspecialties. Psychology is a broadly defined profession with many different opportunities.

If I were to break it down, I'd say there were two main areas within psychology - research psychologists (social, developmental, etc.) and applied psychologists (clinical, school, industrial organizational, etc).

But wait - to make it even more confusing, applied psychologists (I'm a clinical psychologist myself) are often involved in research, too! Research and applied psychologists also often teach.

The American Psychological Association, the main professional body for psychologists in the USA, has over 40 divisions, each devoted to a different aspect of psychology.
they are great in dictionary writting. they make up new words every so often so thats the biggest job.
