Does anyone else have this problem?!?!?
I know it's silly to believe in superstitions or put your faith in luck, but I was wondering if anyone else experiences this.
I always have one good year, one bad year, one good year, one bad year.it always flows in a pattern like that.
It's been like that for the past 5 years. No matter how hard I try, no matter what the heck I do, in the bad years, I end up with something bad happening to me, or I'm not all that successful, and life feels like it stinks most of the time. In the good years, things seem to work out better and I'm overally more successful and happy. This past year was pretty good for me..so I'm kind of expecting next year to already be bad..
is this stupid? i keep getting feelings that next year really will be bad.i'm not sure.does anyone else know about this? has anyone experienced this?
Answer:
Treating systematic events as random events will engender superstitious feelings and treating random events as systematic will make you feel helpless. In one experiment where pidgeons were fed at random intervals, some of the pidgeons developed weird habits like turning in circles as if doing rain dance for food.
I have my own theory in my family of someone dying every four years. It's been almost true since 1988, sometimes a year off. But at the end of the day it's random, and in a truly random situation it's normal for some of us to have unexplained patterns of bad luck and good luck.
We can't choose the cards in life, just play them the best we can.
Invariably when we expect the bad things in life to turn up - they do.
You could try reading "Excuse me your life is waiting," by Lynne Grabhorn. This is a sure-fire way of banashing a superstitious nature for good. I've found it invaluable.
Best of luck!

Yes, that's stupid. Sorry. Everyone on this planet has the exact love life they want. Everyone has the ability to change their lives. It's America for God's sake. Land of the free, home of the brave and the most capitalistic society around. There is so much promise here that even countrymen who hate us from abroad are clammering to get across our borders! So you have a bad year. Shrug it off, pull up your bootstraps and think positive. You create that which you fear.
Just be positive and good things will happen to you...
the life is what you make it,you get out what you put in. the next year is not that far apart, so start looking ahead for the good not bad, like you are doing now.
The cycle of my life is also filled with ups and downs. But somehow, I just seem to like 'level-off'. Somehow, instead of fortunes, I saw such things as graces or blessings from God. Faith has brought me a sense of balance in all of the things that happen. Like an anchor, it gives me a firm grip on where I am, no matter how adverse some things may become. I suggest you re-examine your faith. Maybe somehow, you will find your balance
I had a similar pattern in a sense and I used to believe what you are saying to be undoubtedly true. I recently had a few bad years. Lost my car, lost my apartment, Lost my job, lost all my money, etc . The end of the year I decided that I could break this pattern by 2007 if I just to go out of my element and break out of the old routine and eventually my subconscious that I believed that was causing this superstition would eventually unfold. So far I am starting to regain what I lost instead of continuing the down-word spiral. I just basically said a self destiny theory( theres a better word but I just woke up) until I believed it whole heatedly and things changed.
So to answer your question I would not work on things around this question and know that you are the question and control it whole heatedly. Start by looking on the bad years and notice what happened that was good as large or as minuscule as it was. Then try to break the cycle by changing your mood, changing what you can.
Start taking control of your life in all aspects you can and don't worry about the things you cant control. Basically change your perception to change your life . Lil more to it but that's the general idea.
I have had a problem like this. Not so much in years but more in things. When ever something really good happens its only a matter of days before something really bad happens. When ever something really bad happens something really good happens soon after. My life has ben like this ever since I was 6. The only thing I do now is prepare for what will happen next. Reminds me of some thing I heard. In order to obtain something of equal value u most lose something of equal value forget were I heard it but it sort of what I like to look back on.
its not stupid i think you are being too conscious about the situation, just don't mind that and you''ll notice that all the years go by same.
I think I know what you mean. For a long as I can remember October has been a very lucky month for me. I have met all the special people in my life in October. Big life altering decisions I have made in October have turn out to be the best ones. Once I was laid-off in early September and I didn’t even start looking for a job in October, I got the first job I applied for and it turned out the be the best job I ever had. Deep down inside I know October is not a “Magical month”. It is just how I perceive things. Are we being stupid .. No, not at all
It may be stupid and we know that when we do it. Doesnt stop most of us. What you're talking about is self-fulfilling prophecy. If we go in expecting things are going to turn out bad-we sub-conciously do things to make it go that way. I used to have all bad and all good years, then I changed my outlook on life. Bad stuff still happens, but a lot of good things happen too. I try to focus on the good and take the bad in stride. Good luck.
In your own way you are trying to control your life so basicaly the problem is you, you are a controlfreak as you are too afraid of real life. Why dont you start to pray ask GOD to help you as life is wonderful.
Maybe just Maybe I would like to think that we can pre programme what happens in part by our thinking. OK . Hang on
Have you ever thought that the phone was going to ring and the person that you were thinking off was on the phone and we say something like "Oh I was just thinking of you"!
Maybe if we tell ourselves we are going to have a great lot of years we just might but the trick is "You have to believe that"
Think about it maybe just a little while and see what you come up with
All the best and God Bless
