How does a narcissistic person deal with envy?

Does any out there know how a narcissistic person handles envy? During a 8 month seperation from my husband, I got involved with a man that I now believe is narsissistic. When I told him that I was going back to my husband, he proceeded to tell me that my marriage was a fake and my husband is a liar and hypocrite and things will never be right with us.

After the conversation, I felt like the things he criticized my husband about were the very things he desired in himself. I was wondering if this was just a way to make himself feel better or did he have some type of feelings for me?

Answer:
He certainly has deep feelings for you, since he is trying to hold on to you by trying to devalue your husband.

He doesn't seem narcissistic. He just sounds desperate. Kick him to the side.
Just because someone is narcissitic, it doesn't really mean they are happy with themselves. Usually I think it represents an underlying insecurity a person has, and all the self-centeredness is the only way they know to build some form of self-esteem. Really, I think narcissist is probably envious of many of the people they meet and know...they just won't admit it to themselves.
