Feeling bad about math?

Hi, I love math but I dont think I am very good at it. I got an A in it since 3rd grade but in 9th grade I got a B. It was a high B but I pressure myself too much with it. I get so upset because I am afraid I will be stupid if I dont understand it. Both of my brother who are my heroes are math wizzes. But I am too, it just takes me a while to process it and I hate it when its worng. So I work hard to make it accurate. I come here to help people with their problems but alot of the time I dont remember it. I think I have just been out of practice. Am I stupid? I lack the confidence that I need in that area. Alot of girls at my school are stupid and are taking Algebra AGAIN or the second part of it. I am going into Geometry, which I know I am good at. I am good at all math and I do love it. It relaxes me and when I get it right I love it. So why do I feel so bad? I always had all A's and that one B last year. Please help and thanks for all answers.

Answer:
I can relate. I used to be smart with math, get all As, and when I'd get a B, I'd freak out. But lately, it's a lot of As and Bs and a touch of a C here and there. That annoys me.

But whoa, whoa, whoa, you are not stupid. Believe me, you are not stupid. Getting a B is not a failing grade, because hey, you're going to Geometry. That's quite cool. I'm heading to the 9th grade, and I'm taking Algebrea..Intermediate, I think. Hmm...maybe I'm stupid. You seem to want to achieve perfection with your work, which isn't bad because teachers would love students be more like you, but don't stress yourself out if you do manage to slip off an A. You're good at math, and maybe you're slipping a bit, but relax for a bit, and work as much as you want...but make sure you relax. Don't stress over getting the perfection, because perfection doesn't exist. Just try your best, and double check your work.
Some types of math are harder than others. I heart math, too. In ninth grade I took Geometry and I got B's all year long and it really freaked me out. Then, when I went to Algebra II I got straight 98's and I felt a lot better. I had pre cal last year and got mid 90's. It just depends on the math class. You shouldn't feel bad. Sometimes I feel bad when I get something wrong because I look at it and I'm like how could I miss that? But the puzzling problems are always the best. I know I sound like a nerd. -shrug-
Well Dogna : You are pushing yourself too hard, In fact your are putting to much energy by competing consciously or not againts your brothers, and the others stupid girls of your school. This competition is the cause of your confusing ieas about being good or bad. Think straight: Do you brothers want you to be happy or to compete with them? Do the others girls are really stuppid for not going into algebra? Think they sure have other interest as you do, they sure have their own life and are not worry about you as you are about them. So enjoy who you are.. if you love geometry go for it. Don't be ashamed and do not put yourself on a superior position for doing it. Second forget your brothers they sure with love you the same if you were a C student, and third forget about grades... they are just a relative way to score someone, they are not full reality and they can 't not define who you are.. I
Ok--I was really bad at math until graduate school (really!) and defined myself as a complete idiot because I struggled so long with it. Try this: Find a context for the kind of math problems you are having trouble with. For example, if there are parts of geometry that are tough, imagine that you have to solve a similar problem in designing a house (if you like architecture), engineering a race car (if you're into that) or something else. This allows the problem to be "surrounded" by a subject you like which will put you in the right frame of mind for solving it.
By the sound of it, you may be a perfectionist. I used to feel kinda bad when I don't get A with my favorite subjects. But I don't think to much of it now. You shouldn't beat yourself too hard on it.

I do badly at maths, and it doesn't make me feel stupid because I'm good at other stuff. And I don't like being judged because of my grades, school grades doesn't define what you are.

Thomas Alfa Edison didn't do well at school and he ended up inventing many neat stuff.

You can't be perfect all the time, no one can.

Just enjoy math because it's math, not because of the grades.
