Is this odd? ... Is there a name for this? ... Have you ever had a dream that caused you physical pain ... ?
... during the dream?
(I had several dreams as a kid that I was chased and tickled by 'bad guys' and the tickling hurt really bad. If I woke during the tickling part of the dream it would hurt for awhile after I was awake, too.)
... after you were awake again?
(I had a dream that I hurt my head and for several days afterwards my head was sore while I was awake.)
...
Is this odd? How/why is it odd?
(I think it's odd, but what is your view on it?)
Is there a name for this (that you know of)?
Answer:
Yeah, I've had a dream like that before. I dreamt a dog bit me on the back of the calf and my leg ached all day afterward.
All sensation is in your brain. Your nerves send the message of stimulation to your brain, which decides if it feels good or bad and sends the degree of this feeling back down the nerve. If your brain thinks the nerve is sending a message, you feel it regardless of the lack of real stimulation.
You fell out of the bed fool.
I dunno, but I had a dream once where a voice was telling me "not yet, not yet." Then the voice said, " okay, you can go now." I woke up peeing the bed... lol
Normally the real pain sensation makes you dream you get hurt or something happens to you that causes pain. When you wake up you will realize the pain is still there (Like dreaming someone tries to suffocate you when you actually got stuffy nose overnight). When you have pain in dreams and when you wake up is gone, while sleeping part of the brain area that creates the sensation of pain (hypothalamus) got excited by a random neuron connection.
Pain is caused by the mind. You may have been hurt before you went to sleep but didn't notice the pain until you woke up, and this is the reason for your dream. Also, the pain could have been caused by your mind sending signals of pain, but it should not persist for more than five minutes upon awakening.
I had a weird dream the I had to walk through fire once and my feet were burning when I woke up. I had another where I got bitten by a snake, even while I was still half asleep I could bite marks in my leg, then a bit later in my dream I became a ghost and it felt like I was floating out of my body until I woke up. It was really weird.
well sometime like how people talk in there sleep you do things to your self in your sleep and dont even no it. and you will feel the pain when you awake.
once when i was about 10 i had a dream i was boxing someone, and they hit me right in the mouth. and in the dream it was painful. and when i woke up, my tooth was out and my lip was fat. now i must have punched myself in my sleep.
in your case, you may be hitting your self. and or bending your body to make it get numb.
but in any way try less caffinee before bed, choc. ect.
