New Drug Deletes Bad Memories?
Aren't our memories-- both good AND bad part of what make people well... people?
Also even if a memory erasing drug made you "happy" when you "Delete" a bad memory...
Do you think it would really be gone or would it still be somewhere in your brain supressed?

Scientists don't know everything about the brain and the role of memory, so I doubt they could target specific memories.
i think the way it works is that it phsically destroys the small micro tiny portion of the brain the holds that memory and u cant get that memory back...

I really haven't read enuf about it, but it doesn't sound logical to me. What we need as we age is a drug that makes us remember. I hope they will discover this some day. bettyk
You have to remember that people are individuals. There are memories people have that make them stronger, and there are memories that make people weaker. Think about it. People who are mentally ill can be that way biologically or from a very bad childhood. There are people who have become successful from bad situations, and there are people in jail from bad memories. In all, some people it would benefit, and some people won't.
As far as it being suppressed, if it deleted a bad memory, then I don't think it would be suppressed. Suppression means you DO remember, but it is in your subconscious. If you delete a memory, it is gone forever.

It deletes it the same way a club would only internally. It may be there still but you'll have no access to the half-chewed part of your brain. It would delete all memories if all a person had were bad memories. It also makes an assumption about happiness. There are plenty of people with good memories who are unhappy. What makes a memory bad or good also depends on if the person having them was happy or sad
