I don't believe its possible not to be "addicted" to sex.. and they should be treating the people who classify it as an ailment rather than vice versa...

I think that the so-called sexually addicted are people who are simply black holes of emotional neediness who use that term - addiction - as an excuse to justify their own bad behavior. That they are emotionally disturbed is true, but an addiction? I don't think so.
I believe that the US certainly has some hang-ups about sex and sexuality. In Canada, and the European countries, people are much more open about the subject. I tend to agree with you, I think that "sex addiction" is made up because our society can't deal with too much sexuality.

Didn't Plato essentially describe such additions as a soul controlled by appetite rather then by reason or will? He may not have called it an addiction, but it certainly conflicted with the ideal soul (one where reason kept will and appetite under control).

Americans definitely overreact to sex, I remember watching both Saving Private Ryan and Monty Python & the Holy Grail in high school... the violence in SPR was okay, but we had to fast forward through the part in Monty Python with the castle and spankings.
i do believe people can become "addicted" to sex.. mainly because sometimes it could become uncontrollable expecially when somebody hits that hot spot
if some people are addicted to sex, theyre addicted to sex, unfortunately, its less than the majority so its weird and you become an outcast, very american. they treat it by trying not to have sex, and thatll just pent someone up like boiling water under a lid, let them roam free, if they start breaking crimes when can stop them
