I dont know if I'm good enough?

I am writing a book, and although I'm still at school my teachers think that I am really talented at English. However, all of a sudden I feel like I'm not good enough at writing and it makes me feel like crawling up into a little ball and dying. I find it really hard to remain strong and keep my mind positive. What you must understand is that this is my dream, and it kills me to think that I might have to forget it.

Answer:
To be able to write publishable books is a wonderful gift and not given to everyone. You are still young and have much to learn. Remember, even the gifted have to learn their craft and you should spend as much time as you can 'learning the trade', writing short stories, trying to get articles published in periodicals and joining 'creative writing' classes. If you truly have the 'gift' and you can be patient, then your talent, in the end will shine through. Don't get despondent; each time you think of a good idea for a novel, keep a notebook of your thoughts and just jot everything down that might be useful for the future. I try to write rhyming poetry and many times I construct wonderful stanzas in my head but neglect to write them down and they then get forgotten. Most of all, be patient; when the time is right your intuition will tell you and then you can sit at your keyboard and compose.
Best of luck Lana.
I look forward to reading your first novel.
how will u know if u r good enough unless u try...

atleast try :)
Never give up on your dreams! It doesn't matter who else does or doesn't believe in you. Number one is that you believe in yourself. If you think you can do it then you can! Good luck.
If you hadn't said this...I would have given you NO chance of ever being a writer!

You have just discovered the one thing that will make you write for all of your life...doubt! The greatest qualification there is for an author!!

My Father once told me to either tell him something he didn't know...or failing that...something he didn't think I was capable of saying!

Good advice for any writer! Welcome to the club!
Everyone feels like this sometimes. Just keep plugging along at what you're doing, and when you finish, you'll be able to read it and think, "Hey, wow, this is really good. It was worth the misery and hard work!"
Best to write as if you were speaking (I'm told) the more you worry about prose and punctuation, the more convoluted you get.
Do not give up on your dream.

I also enjoy writing, but it is perfectly normal to get writer's block or a lack of confidence every now and again.

Just make sure you keep writing, try hard at school and believe in yourself.
Writing is a talent and a gift. But you need to practise it everyday, like any musical instrument, if you want to improve and become the best.

You are young and talented, but like most writers, there is a long road ahead filled with experience and knowledge. You need to travel that road, have faith in yourself and in what you can do, and never give up.

Your sudden feeling of inadequacy is just the pressure you are putting on yourself to be excellent right from the get go.

You CAN write, sweetheart, and don't let anyone tell you that you don't have what it takes. I hope we see you in print in the not-so-distant future.
xx
I can't remember the author's name, but the title is destinctive enough that any bookstore will be able to help you find this book for aspiring writers: Bird by Bird.
Read it.
The fear of failure is generally proposed when a person is resistant to making a change, and for the obvious reason.failure, but, people are also afraid of success. It's apparent that others around you have set a challenge/goal to which they are convinced that you'll succeed, but you're fear takes place with the realization of "what if", meaning what if i really succeed as they predict? Then what will i do to maintain that success? All of the sudden the bar is raised, therefore; you feel an obligation to be better at everything else in life. Remember that the fear of failure and the fear to maintain success hold the same stress level. Think about your goal and what you want to achieve.

Good Luck

The only way to find out is wether you are good enough or not is to put your materail out there! Certain people may say one thing and some may express other opinions. Which is OK, put your stuff out there in the open. That is how you will know if you are not good enought, the least that could happen is you fall on your knees, if so get back up and try it again.
always remember what is in your heart. dont give up when times get rough. fight through them and all will be good in the end. keep thinking positive.
If you were confident that you were the 'best' author in the World I'd be very sure that you would fail! You have doubts but that is natural, Any-one who has a 'dream' doubts too. 'Greats' not only have a talent they have the desire to 'chase the dream' when things try to stop them and a belief that they deserve to succeed!
I deserve my dream, I can chase my dream, I WILL succeed! Tell yourself this every night and whenever those doubts creep into your mind! Make it your Mantra!
For inspiration read the auto-biographies of writers you admire! They all felt the way you do at some point in life.
I look forward to reading your work!
At first you must believe in yourself, if you don't no one else will, always tell yourself you are the best and no matter what happens you are strong at heart and can get through any trials/problems. Don't you dare give up on your dreams you will end up saying " if mi did know", stay around people that make you feel good about yourself and always keep a smile on your face. Never doubt yourself for a minute, always remember this " I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGHTENS ME". Whatever is bothering you talk to someone you trust or your mentor so they share their thoughts, give great advices and help you. "NEVER GIVE UP" "KEEP STRONG AND FIRM"!!!
keep at it ... you will be ok
dont give up, believe in yourself because you can do anything you want, keep telling yourself that you are gonna do this and you are not gonna give it up, after all its your dream, you go girl, good luck and you can and will do it x
Ability is strengthened upon experience. No matter how well you do you will always make mistakes regardless, but the longer you do something the more experience you will gain. Keep writing. Don't give up. Because if you do give up, it will be that much more difficult when you decide that you wanna pick it back up again.
