How do overcome my short tempered nature?

Answer:
try to recognize the reason why you are set off so easily and find a way to change your reaction before you go off. you have to get a clear understanding of yourself. you can go to a therapist or anger management if you're willing to spend that money. all they're going to do is help you understand yourself better so you can have more self control. i'm no doctor but there could be something wrong with you, ( tumor, etc) i dont know, thats just something i heard before. only you know the answer. other people can only help you see things that you may be overlooking or ignoring. sometimes we know what the problem is but we are afraid to confront it or are in denial of the truth.

some people may not agree with this but,.smoke some weed. it helped me. sometimes i get so stressed that i feel like going crazy. if i smoke, not in excess though, it calms me down so i can think clearly and not react out of emotional distress. it may help, it may not. lol. like i said before, only you know the truth. other people can only help you to see what you dont have the knowledge or wisdom to see yet or what you dont want to admit at this point.
try anger management programs
First it's great that you are asking this question at all. It shows that you are self aware and that's the first step. There are alot of different paths to take to overcoming this, from psychotherapy to anger management groups, to meditation and yoga to any combination of these. Personally, I recommend a simple undertaking of meditation study (maybe start with John Kabat-Zin's books/tapes out of the Massachusetts Medical Center) and combine that with a good weekly therapist (same as psychotherapy) Go to www.apa.org if you need help finding one in your area. Good luck - You're on your way!
Tranquilizers. You are never going to "overcome" a short tempered nature. You probably only need something mild. Good luck!
