it's a story from greek mythology where the fates destined Oedipus to fall in love with his mother and kill his father. So his father was afraid and he sent him away. When Oedipus grew up, he sought out his parents, but when got into the city he fought and killed a man and then went into and took is his for himself. The man that he killed was his father and the woman that he took was his mother.
