Your boss is a jerk. You need to tell him face to face that you have a right to take a break and relax for a few moments because your work is getting done. It's normal and part of the work routine. If he doesn't go along with it then you need to move on, or threaten him by going to a superior or even filing a complaint, legal or otherwise. You can't sit there and be a victim all day. Time to get some courage and speak up. Either solve the problem by doing something or leave, or stay and be miserable.
What are you embarassed about? Perhaps you could change the source of that embarrassment and get on with life. If it can't be changed, do the best with what it is and not focus on it so much. Get a book to read, have a snack, have a chat with a friend, stuff you can do before work or after work because of the strict rules at work. Change jobs, go with an "employee friendly" company. There are some jobs that would be better for you. You should be able to get a breath of fresh air if you need it, if you work in the United States. Slavery has been abolished. If you feel traumatized because of this job, you should talk to someone about the working conditions. Maybe you can start an on-line course at home, go to night school, look for another job. Perhaps you need some counseling to get your self-esteem up to par. In any case, good luck.
