1. a goal you want to reach (i.e. geting an education may motivate you to do homework)
2. morals (belief that some things are good or bad may motivate you to take certain actions, or avoid others)
3. pleasure (we seek pleasure, avoid pain), i think this is the PRIMARY motivation for all behavior. simple reward & punishment. Skinner was right.
