I have a fear of eating in front of dates. Why? and How can I fix this?

Just relax. Make a joke about it, make that part of the conversation. Eating slow probably looks worst than eating like you normally do. If your date has a problem with the way you eat then they are not the person for you. That right person will love the way you eat and have no problem with you spilling, dropping, munching or slurping. I know I love the way my partner eats, it looks like they are in a race to clear the plate but hey eating food should not be rocket science.
..I guarantee you this behavior will be noticed by your dates and either consciously or unconsciously they will wonder what's wrong with you. Your date will want to see you enjoying yourself - not being anxious and reluctant, that's the whole point of having a meal together!
I recommend that you get the basics under your belt. Review the rules of etiquette about using silverware, napkins, procedure, etc. Get it all down...it will make eating with others less worrisome for you.
